Coach Kylee Kopatich is entering her first season at Blue Valley Southwest (BVSW) High School and her fifth season as a high school basketball coach. She is also a 4th grade teacher at Blue River Elementary, in the Blue Valley School District.
Prior to coming to BVSW, Kopatich was a varsity assistant coach at Bishop Miege High School for three seasons. During her time there, the program won the 4A State Championship during the 2023-24 season and finished as state runner-up the following two seasons, reaching the state championship game in three consecutive years. Before Bishop Miege, Kopatich served as the junior varsity coach at Olathe South High School. She also currently coaches with Livin’ The Dream during the summer, working with youth basketball players throughout the area. Kopatich received her Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from University of Kansas before completing her Master’s degree in Elementary Education from MidAmerica Nazarene University. Kopatich grew up in Olathe and graduated from Olathe South High School, where she competed in basketball, track, and soccer. She went on to play women’s basketball at University of Kansas, earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors in 2019. Kopatich was also a three-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team selection (2017, 2018, 2019), an Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team honoree in 2016, and a nominee for the All-State Good Works Team in 2017. Kopatich currently lives in Olathe and is engaged to Eric Steffee, with the couple planning to marry in November 2026. |
