MATISYN WOOD
Coach Matisyn Wood is in her first season at Blue Valley Southwest (BVSW) High School. She is the varsity assistant with the girls basketball program. In addition to coaching, Wood is also the Attendance Clerk at BVSW.
Prior to coming to BVSW, Wood played five years of college basketball. She ended her last two years of her playing career this past season (2023/24) with the McPherson College Bulldogs. Wood played one year at Lamar Community College, in Colorado, before transferring to Lake Region State College, in North Dakota, where she played two years. Wood most recently earned her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from McPherson College, in the Spring of 2024. She also earned her Associate of Science in Criminal Justice from Lake Region State College, in 2022. Wood was born in Warrensburg, Missouri and attended grade school there. Her family moved to Punta Gorda, Florida, in 2013, where she attended Charlotte County Schools and played four years of varsity basketball for the Charlotte High School Fighting Tarpons. During high school, Wood mentored many young girls by coaching Tiny Tarpons basketball and conducting camps every summer. Wood married her husband, Travis, in April of 2024. Together they have a Labrador Retriever, Rut, who accompanies them on their many camping and fishing adventures. |
