HEAD COACH
TJ TAYLOR
Coach TJ Taylor is in his seventh season at Blue Valley Southwest (BVSW) High School, joining in June 2019.  In addition to being the head varsity girls basketball coach, he is also a PE/Health teacher, at BVSW.  Taylor also serves in the baseball and football programs at BVSW as an assistant coach.

Prior to coming to BVSW, Taylor was at Shawnee Mission East (SME) High School.  At SME, he was an assistant girls basketball coach, from 2013-2019.  During the six years at SME, Taylor worked mostly as the varsity assistant coach and with the JV/Varsity student-athletes.  He worked under the leadership of Coach Lauren Lawrence (2015-2019) and Coach Austin Klumpe (2013-2015).

Taylor completed his Master of Arts in Teaching, at Pittsburg State University (2019).  He did his student teaching at Shawnee Mission School District, spending time at Belinder Elementary and Shawnee Mission West (SMW) High School.  Taylor also holds a Master of Arts in Sports Administration, at Wayne State University (2012), and a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Coaching, at Grand Valley State University (2008).

Born and raised in Michigan, Taylor moved to Kansas City in 2013.  He was a four year letterwinner in both baseball and basketball, at Mattawan High School, from 2000-2004.  Taylor and his wife, Jenna, have a 1 year-old son, Beckett, along with their two Golden Retrievers --- Piper and Heinz.
